I returned to running today after a short period of being unwell and a sprained ankle to add to the mix.
The sunny blue skies and my desire to return to exercise spurred me on and I pulled on my trainers and off I went! I had done some preliminary rehabilitation exercises and took it easy today and although there was mild discomfort towards the end of my run it felt great to be back!
Returning to sport and exercise after a period of injury or illness can be daunting, deconditioning occurs surprisingly fast but similarly that muscle memory is there and with the correct rehab and guidance you can return to exercise safely and effectively reaping the benefits both mentally and physically.
